Earlier this spring, the City Council received public comment and requests to consider the allowance of backyard chickens in Hopkins. Council directed staff to review the request.
Staff reviewed the issue, other communities’ ordinances and the City’s zoning regulations, and drafted a proposed ordinance. Staff then opened a public engagement survey and received 233 responses.
Staff revised the ordinance based on feedback and held a public hearing at the Planning Commission on July 28, 2020.
The City Council is currently reviewing the item.
