Free Brush Pick-Up is April 4-14

The City will be picking up brush free of charge for residential garbage customers the same day as your garbage day April 4-14. No call-in is required for the free pick-up. Find more information about brush pick-up. 


Brush and Yard Waste Drop-Off Site Opens April 4

The free brush and yard waste drop-off site will open for the season on Monday, April 4. Hours of operation are Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 to 7 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Only brush and yard waste generated by Hopkins residential garbage customers will be accepted. Driver’s licenses will be checked to verify eligibility. Find more information about the drop-off site.


Community Garden Plot Registration Begins April 5

Registration for community garden plots begins for Hopkins residents on Tuesday, April 5, at 8 a.m. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis (limit two plots per household).
Residents must provide proof of residency and register in-person at Hopkins City Hall, 1010 First Street S. Non-residents may register beginning Tuesday, April 13. Learn more about Hopkins' community garden plots. 


Registration Open for Step to it Challenge

Do you want a fun and easy way to kick start a springtime exercise program after being cooped up at home? Sign-up for the four-week Step to it Challenge from May 1-28 and get moving again after a cold winter. Over 20 communities will compete to see which one has the most active residents. Learn more and register for the Step to it Challenge.


Purchase a Tree Through City of Hopkins Tree Sale

In partnership with Tree Trust, Hopkins Public Works is offering a limited number of trees at a discounted price of $40 each to residents. There is a two tree limit per household. Residents are responsible for planting the trees and must call Gopher State One Call prior to digging. Trees must be planted on private property in Hopkins, not within the boulevard or public right-of-way. Trees will be available for pick-up on Saturday, May 7, from 8 a.m. to noon, at the Hopkins Water Treatment Plant next to Elmo Park, 1498 7th Street N. Learn more and purchase a tree.


City Hiring Public Works Seasonal Workers

The City of Hopkins is seeking seasonal workers in the Public Works department. Seasonal workers perform various types of manual labor and operate light equipment in the maintenance of City streets, parks and utilities. Hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., at $17-19/hour. Learn more about the position and apply online.
