Pumpkin Drop-Off is November 1-6

Hopkins residents can recycle pumpkins at Hopkins Public Works, 11100 Excelsior Boulevard, November 1 through 6 between 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Drop them in the provided dumpster in the parking lot off 17th Avenue so they can be used to feed farm animals. For the safety of the animals, please remove all candles, wax and decorations. Painted pumpkins cannot be accepted.


Election Day is November 4

The 2025 municipal election will be held Tuesday, November 4. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. City Hall will also be open extended hours for absentee voting on Saturday, November 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Monday, November 3, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit mnvotes.org to find your polling place or view your sample ballot. Find more information about voting and elections in Hopkins.


A Night in the Andes Mountains Event is November 7

The City of Hopkins invites you to immerse yourself in the sounds and dances of the Andean culture at the Hopkins Activity Center on Friday, November 7, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Andes Mountains traverse seven countries in South America, where the Incan Empire once flourished. Today, the descendants of the Andes civilizations continue to preserve their cultural heritage and are a testament to the resilience and creativity of its people. Join us for this free, bi-lingual event featuring live music, cultural performances and delicious food. No registration required. Turkey Bingo with the Hopkins Police Department is November 9

The Hopkins Police Department is hosting Turkey Bingo on Sunday, November 10, at 1 p.m., at the Hopkins Activity Center. For $20, play 10 games for the chance to win amazing prices worth $50-$100 each game. Raffles for gift cards to local businesses will be held between games. Refreshments will be available for purchase. The 18+ event is cash only. All proceeds will go to the department’s Cops N Community programs.


Free Leaf and Yard Waste Pick-Up Extended Through November 20

Free fall leaf and yard waste bag pick-up will be on your regular garbage day October 20 through November 20. If you live in the Bellgrove, Hobby Acres, Park Ridge and Interlachen Park neighborhoods, leaf and yard waste will be picked-up using front-end loaders and dump trucks November 10 through 14: 

  • Bellgrove: Monday, November 10
  • Interlachen Park: Wednesday, November 12 (Meadowbrook Road up to and including Maple Hill Road)
  • Park Ridge: Thursday, November 13
  • Hobby Acres: Thursday, November 13
  • Interlachen Park: Friday, November 14 (Interlachen Road up to but not including to Blake Road)

November Pickleball Skills and Strategies Clinics

Up your pickleball game by building on specific skills, techniques and strategies through developmental drills. Be an unstoppable force on the court by taking a 90 minute Pickleball Skills Clinic at the Hopkins Activity Center.

  • Tuesday, November 11: 
    • 1:30 p.m.: Offense and Defensive Lobs
    • 3 p.m.: Drop Shots and Transitioning/Reset
  • Tuesday, November 18:  
    • 1:30 p.m.: Effective Serving/Return of Serves
    • 3 p.m.: Dinking with Purpose and Intent\

Each class costs $15 (Activity Center members $12) and is taught by Dave Ostlund, PPR and DUPR certified coach. Over the past three years Dave has taught hundreds of courses and thousands of students from beginners to high-intermediates. Learn more and register.

Hennepin County Commercial Ownership Assistance Program Applications Now Open

Hennepin County is expanding its technical assistance offerings to support commercial real estate ownership among established small businesses at the early stages of assessing the feasibility of acquiring a specific property. Eligible small businesses seeking to acquire commercial real estate for their own use and occupancy in Hennepin County and who demonstrate a matching financial commitment can access up to $10,000 value in consulting services from real estate finance experts and other property acquisition experts.  Apply for the Commercial Ownership Assistance program.
