Community Garden Kick-Off Event is May 10

Join the City of Hopkins for a FREE, fun-filled morning at the fourth annual Community Garden Kick-Off event at the community gardens in Valley Park on Saturday, May 10, from 9 to 11 a.m. Community partners offering gardening advice, free giveaways and more include Hennepin County Master Gardeners, the Hopkins School District and Hopkins Community Education, City of Hopkins departments and boards, the Hopkins Historical Society and more. Plus free coffee from the Depot Youth Advisory Board! The event is open to all, no registration is required to attend.


Paige Bueckers Day and WNBA Watch Day is May 16

At an April City Council meeting, the Council adopted a proclamation recognizing Hopkins High School alumna Paige Bueckers and declaring Hopkins be renamed Paige Bueckers, Minnesota on Friday, May 16. Join the community for a spirited watch party of the Dallas Wings vs. Minnesota Lynx game at Hopkins High School or settle in to your favorite Mainstreet establishment. Mainstreet Day is May 17

Mainstreet Day, the annual arts and craft festival sponsored by JCI Hopkins, will be held Saturday, May 17, on Mainstreet in downtown Hopkins. The event is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature more than 250 participating arts and craft vendors offer a variety of homemade items, including jewelry, woodworking, photography and fine art, clothing, toys, garden decor and more. JCI Hopkins reinvests all proceeds from Mainstreet Day back into the Hopkins community to support programs and projects such as Bowling with the Bunny, Little Free Libraries and the Cops 'N Kids Shopping Program. Find more information about Mainstreet Day. 


Cops N Kids Fishing Nominations Due May 19

The Hopkins Police Department is now accepting nominations for Cops N Kids Fishing coming up on Thursday, June 12. Cops N Kids Fishing is a mentoring program for fourth and fifth graders who are identified by community members as needing an additional opportunity for a positive role model experience. Working in partnership with local school districts and teachers, as well as donations from residents and businesses, HPD is able to educate participants on the importance of respecting our natural resources and encourage them to enjoy the outdoor recreational opportunities, all while fostering positive relationships with the police. Energy Assistance Still Available

Community Action Partnership of Hennepin County’s (CAP-HC’s) Energy Assistance Program can help pay your utility bills between October 1, 2024 and May 31, 2025. If you’re an eligible applicant, you may receive a grant paid directly to your utility provider that reduces your expenses.
