Free Yard Waste Pick-Up is April 18-28

Yard waste will be collected for free on your regular garbage day from April 18-28. You do not need to call to schedule this pickup. Bagged yard waste should be placed at your normal collection site at least four feet away from your garbage and recycling containers. After April 28, bags will be collected on Thursdays and must display yard waste stickers, available for purchase at City Hall or Public Works. Find more information on yard waste pick-up.


Zoning Regulations Update Open House is April 26

The City of Hopkins is holding a Zoning Regulations Update Open House on Tuesday, April 26, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Hopkins Pavilion. There will be a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m., with time for discussion and questions both before and after. A public review draft of the zoning regulations (PDF) and online comment form are also available on the Zoning Regulations Update Project webpage.   


Attend Free Community Garden Classes 

Whether you are an avid gardener or are new to gardening, there is always something new to learn! Gardening classes led by the Hennepin County Master Gardeners are free and open to the public. Garden topics vary each month, and are held on select Wednesday evenings from spring through fall. View a list of upcoming free Community Garden Classes. 


Apply to Serve on a Board or Commission

Interested in serving your community? The City is currently seeking applicants for
openings on the Charter Commission, Park Board and Planning and Zoning Commission, as well as youth member applicants. Find recruitment information and apply online. The deadline to apply is Sunday, May 1.


Hopkins Mainstreet Added to
National Register of Historic Places

Hopkins Commercial Historic District has been placed on the National Park Service’s National Register of Historic Places. The area covered by the listing includes 32 buildings along Mainstreet between 8th and 11th Avenues. The National Register of Historic Places is the official list of historic properties recognized by the federal government as worthy of preservation for their significance in American history, architecture, archaeology, engineering or culture. Learn more about the listing in a press release.
