Boards & Commissions
The City of Hopkins has four volunteer boards or commissions to advise and assist the City Council on City policies, procedures, and operations. These commissions are comprised of volunteer citizens and an appointed staff member as a liaison.
The Charter Commission is responsible for recommending changes to the City Charter.
The Park Board advises the Council on operation of parks and recreation programs and facilities in the City.
The Planning and Zoning Commission is designed to serve in an advisory capacity to the City Council and administration and is empowered to perform certain quasi-judicial functions.
Serve on a Board or Commission
Hopkins needs volunteers in order to succeed. The various boards and commissions of the City of Hopkins perform a vital role in the life of our community. Many of the City’s decisions, policies, and procedures were founded on recommendations from a board or commission.
The City currently has openings on the Planning and Zoning Commission, Park Board and Charter Commission. Know someone who would be great? Share our flyer (PDF).
The City will also be hosting an open house/informational session for interested applicants on Thursday, March 18 at 6 p.m. at City Hall and on Zoom (more information will be posted here the day before the event). Please contact email@example.com to reserve an in-person spot, as space will be limited.
Please consider giving a few hours of your time to help your community by submitting an application today. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 19, at 11:59 p.m. (City Hall closes at 4:30 p.m.).
