Connections - A Weekly Update from the City of Hopkins

Free Brush Pick-Up is April 4-14

The City will be picking up brush free of charge for residential garbage customers the same day as your garbage day the week of September 20. No call-in is required for the free pick-up. Find more information about brush pick-up.

Hydrant Flushing Begins April 4

Don't be alarmed if your water is discolored: Hopkins Public Works utility crews will be flushing fire hydrants throughout the community April 4-22. Residents are cautioned against doing laundry - particularly lighter colored items - while crews are in the neighborhood.

Hydrant Flushing Schedule:

  • April 4-8: Hydrants north of Excelsior Boulevard and west of Highway 169
  • April 11-15: Hydrants south of Excelsior Boulevard and west of Highway 169
  • April 18-22: Hydrants east of Highway 169

If water is still discolored once crews leave, residents should run the cold water until it runs clear. More information is available here.
