Connections - A Weekly Update from the City of Hopkins

Holiday in Hopkins is November 27

Holiday in Hopkins is back! Celebrate Small Business Saturday with the Hopkins Business and Civic Association's passport program. Pick up your passport from participating businesses, get them stamped (virtual options available) at local businesses and organizations, and turn them in by December 11 for a chance to win gift cards and other prizes from Hopkins businesses. Be sure to stop by the Hopkins Activity Center between 9 a.m. and noon for the Hopkins Farmers Market Winter Market, the Hopkins Center for the Arts between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for free horse-drawn wagon rides and Driskill's Downtown Market for their cookie coloring contest, and end the day in Downtown Park for the Elks Lodge tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. More information is available in a Hopkins Business and Civic Association's Facebook event here.

Share Input on Creek Restoration at 325 Blake Road
by November 28

You can see initial designs and share your input for the Minnehaha Creek Restoration at 325 Blake Road now through Sunday, November 28, with an online survey from Minnehaha Creek Watershed District. The survey is offered in English, Spanish, and Somali.

The restoration will complete a missing link in the Minnehaha Creek Greenway, a decade-long effort to restore the creek and connect a system of green space and trails around Minnehaha Creek to the surrounding community. In September, the MCWD Board of Managers approved schematic designs for the creek restoration project spaces.

Current designs include:
  • Gateway to Minnehaha Creek at site
  • Stormwater management areas
  • Recreational trail
  • Trailhead and overlook
  • Areas for active and passive uses
  • Nature-based play areas.
Feedback received this fall will inform updates and continued project design, with a project open house for the community coming in early 2022.
