Brush and Yard Waste Drop-Off Site Closes November 21

The free yard waste/brush drop-off site (3100 Hopkins Crossroad) will be open Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Saturday, November 21, weather permitting. After November 21, the site will close for the season. Learn what's accepted at the drop-off site here.


Virtual Truth-in-Taxation Hearing is November 30

Interested in how your tax dollars are spent? Attend the virtual 2021 Truth-in-Taxation Hearing on Monday, November 30, at 7 p.m. The 2021 Budget will be presented, along with the proposed 2021 tax levy. This is the final opportunity for the community to provide input on the budget before it is approved. Information on attending virtually can be found here.


New Initiative Launched to Provide Resources
to Local Businesses

The City of Hopkins is pleased to announce Elevate Business HC, a new public/private initiative from Hennepin County and the Minneapolis Regional Chamber offering pro bono services to businesses located in Hennepin County. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses have been greatly impacted and economic recovery is a priority. The goal of the program is to provide resources to help re-build, re-establish and re-ignite local businesses.

Elevate Business HC provides expertise in three areas:
  • Technical Assistance: One-on-one consultation with professional service providers to find solutions in a variety of areas including financing, human resources, technology, and many others
  • Peer-to-Peer Roundtables: Reoccurring and facilitated small group discussions segmented by industry and areas of participant interest with a focus on sharing best practices and problem solving
  • Topic-Driven Webinars: Industry and subject matter experts will discuss issues facing employers with a focus on workforce needs in remote environments during the COVID-19 pandemic

Register for Police Department's Vitals™ App

The Hopkins Police Department is proud to partner with the Vitals™ organization to offer an app to help improve communication and increase understanding between the police and those living with invisible disabilities such as mental health, autism and dementia, among others. The Vitals™ app provides officers with the following information: 

  • Individual demographics 
  • Behavior triggers and de-escalation techniques 
  • Primary and secondary conditions 
  • Medications 
  • Medical Information 
  • Contact information 
  • Videos and photos. 

The first 25 residents to register for Vitals™ will receive a free beacon from the police department. Find more information, including how to register for the app, here.
