Shady Oak Beach Closes for Season September 7

There are just a few days left to enjoy the sun at Shady Oak Beach. The beach is set to close at the end of the day on Monday, September 7. Beach gates are open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Please be advised that lifeguards are no longer on duty. More information about the beach is available here.


Deadline to Provide Input on the Redevelopment of
325 Blake Road is September 7

The City of Hopkins and the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District are working together on a process to find a master developer to redevelop 11-13 acres of the site at 325 Blake Road. The site presents a unique and exciting opportunity to create a water-focused, sustainable, transit oriented development that blends seamlessly into the Hopkins community. The deadline to provide input is Monday, September 7, at 4:30 p.m. Learn more about the project and share your comments on the draft Development Vision here.


Deadline to Apply for Small Business Emergency Assistance Loan is September 11

The City of Hopkins has established a Small Business Emergency Assistance Loan Program (SBEAL) to provide forgivable, no-interest loans of up to $5,000 to assist eligible small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of the program is to provide working capital to assist local small businesses to sustain operations, preserve employment and prevent business closure in order to promote long-term economic vitality in the Hopkins community. Loan applications are due by 3 p.m. on Friday, September 11. Learn more about the SBEAL program and apply online here.


Free Brush Pick-Up Begins September 21

The City will be picking up brush free of charge for residential garbage customers the same day as your garbage day the week of September 21. No call-in is required for the free pick-up. Learn more about brush pick-up requirements here.


Plan Ahead to Vote in the General Election

The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 3. If you are looking to minimize your direct contact with others and practice social distancing, you have the option to vote by mail. All Minnesota voters are eligible to vote by mail. You may apply for an absentee ballot online at mnvotes.org to vote by mail or contact City Hall for more information at 952-548-6302. Hopkins residents may vote in-person at City Hall starting on September 18.
