Ice Rink Warming Houses Close for Season February 17

Monday, February 17, is the last day the warming houses at Hopkins/Minnetonka ice skating rinks are scheduled to be staffed and open. After February 17, outdoor picnic tables or benches will be available next to the rinks for patrons to use. Rink maintenance will continue as long as the rinks are solid and safe enough to skate on. Seasoned Driver Training Class is February 18 and 19

Improve your driving skills through an eight-hour introductory Defensive Driving course held on February 18 and 19 from 6 to 10 p.m., at the Hopkins Activity Center. Led by trained Minnesota Safety Council instructors, the course includes lecture, films and discussion. If you're 55 or older, you can also get a discount on your personal auto insurance. Hopkins Fire Department Seeking Part-Time Firefighters

The Hopkins Fire Department is currently seeking candidates for paid, on-call firefighters who live within eight minutes of the department and are interested in serving Hopkins residents on a wide range of emergency calls and services.

All uniforms, equipment and training is paid for by the department. Firefighters who spend at least 10 years with the department will receive a pension.

An informational meeting will be held on Saturday, March 14, at 10 a.m., at the Hopkins Fire Station. Applications are due by Monday, March 30, at 4 p.m. Find more information and apply online here.
