Since 1893 members of the Hopkins Fire Department have taken pride in our commitment to professional service by maintaining our skills, knowledge and abilities. All members of the Department are committed to conducting ourselves in an ethical manner, conforming to a moral standard of right versus wrong by treating each other and the people we serve humanely, professionally and honestly.

About the Hopkins Fire Department

The Hopkins Fire Department is a progressive, paid on-call fire department with a small complement of full-time staff that responds to wide variety of emergency fire and medical calls in Hopkins. 

Beyond call response, Hopkins Fire is involved in fire inspections, investigations, fire prevention activities and community EMT visits. 

The Hopkins Fire Department is also one of 11 Chemical Assessment Teams for the State of Minnesota, responding to a five-county area to support local fire departments in hazardous materials incidents.

  • The Hopkins Fire Department was organized in 1893 after a devastating fire brought to light the need for public fire protection.
  • In 1989, the Hopkins Fire Department was voted State of Minnesota Fire Department of the Year.
  • The Fire Department was presented with a 2009 Life Safety Achievement Award by the Residential Fire Safety Institute.
