Fire Department Open House is October 12

The Hopkins Fire Department will host its annual Open House at the Hopkins Fire Station, 101 17th Avenue S, on Saturday, October 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain (or snow) or shine. Stop by and enjoy fire truck and bucket rides, free hot dogs and popcorn, and lots of hands-on fun. Dianne Reeves Concert is October 12

Tickets are still available for the Dianne Reeves concert tomorrow, October 12, at 8 p.m., at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. Reeves is a five-time GRAMMY winner known for her breathtaking virtuosity, improvisational prowess, and unique jazz and R&B styling. Find more information about Reeves and upcoming concerts at the Art Center, and purchase tickets here.


Brush/Yard Waste Drop-Off Site Hours Change October 13

Beginning Monday, October 14, the free brush and yard waste drop-off site will be open Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (closed on Veterans Day). The drop-off site will close for the season after November 23. All services are subject to change or cancellation due to weather. More information about the drop-off site is available here.


Doo Wop Project Concert is October 19

Doo Wop Project will take the stage at the Hopkins Center for the Arts on Saturday, October 19, at 8 p.m. The group will take concert-goers on a journey – from groups like the Crests, Belmonts and Flamingos through the sounds of Smokey Robinson, The Temptations and all the way to DooWopified versions of modern musicians like Michael Jackson, Jason Mraz and Maroon 5. Learn more about Doo Wop Project and purchase tickets here.


Free Leaf and Yard Waste Pick-Up Begins October 28

Free fall leaf and yard waste bag pick-up will be on your regular garbage day October 28 through November 21. If you live in the Bellgrove, Hobby Acres, Park Ridge and Interlachen Park, leaf and yard waste will be picked-up using front-end loaders and dump trucks November 4 through 7. Find the schedule for your neighborhood's pick-up day on the City website. You do not need to schedule this pick-up. Information about pick-up guidelines is available here.

Day Into Night on the Artery Event Cancelled

Due to the weather forecast, the Day Into Night on the Artery event that was scheduled for this Saturday, October 12, has been cancelled. In honor of the Artery being recognized as a 2019 Great Street in America by the Planning Association, the City will be holding a short Great Street Announcement Ceremony under the patio canopy at LTD Brewing (8 8th Avenue N) on October 12 at 5 pm. Feel free to bundle up and join us!
