Bulk Item Drop-Off is September 27-28

Broken grill taking up space in the garage? Old microwave in the basement you need to toss? The fall bulk drop-off event for City of Hopkins residential garbage customers is Friday, September 27, from 3 to 7 p.m., and Saturday, September 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For $20, plus taxes, you can drop off one appliance and up to three cubic yards worth of trash (the equivalent of one pick-up truck load). Additional appliances are $20, plus taxes, each. Leftover trees from Tree Trust's Act on Ash sale will also be available for purchase on Saturday. More information is available here.


City Hall Grand Reopening is October 1

After months of construction, we are back in action at Hopkins City Hall! Join the Hopkins City Council and City staff on Tuesday, October 1, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. for a dedication and ribbon cutting, building tours, an artist talk and cake. City Hall is located at 1010 First Street S. 

National Coffee with a Cop Day is October 2

Join officers from the Hopkins Police Department for coffee and conversation on Wednesday, October 2, from 9 to 11 a.m., at the Depot Coffee House. As part of National Coffee with a Cop day, the department invites you to ask questions, voice concerns, show your support and get to know the police officers in your city.


Tour of Amazon Paint is October 2

The City of Hopkins is offering a tour of Amazon Paint in Fridley, where all paint collected by Hennepin County and participating PaintCare locations is gathered, on Wednesday, October 2, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Find out how they make new paint from all those old colors and what they do with the dried up paint. Transportation is provided, so space is limited. Call or email Pam Hove at phove@hopkinsmn.com or 952-548-6351 to reserve a spot.


Fire Department Open House is October 12

The Hopkins Fire Department will host its annual Open House at the Hopkins Fire Station, 101 17th Avenue S, on Saturday, October 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop by and enjoy fire truck and bucket rides, free hot dogs and popcorn, and lots of hands-on fun. Watch live fire demonstrations, including an auto extrication and car fire, and learn valuable health and life safety tips. Learn more here.

The Artery: A Great Streets Celebration is October 12

The Artery was recently recognized by the American Planning Association as a 2019 Great Street in America. Let’s celebrate! Join the City for the Great Street announcement ceremony on Saturday, October 12, at 5 p.m., followed by music, games, a community art project, a food truck, cosmic mini golf and lots of glow in the dark fun. Stay for a showing of Toy Story 4 after the sun goes down. This family-friendly event will take place along 8th Avenue between Mainstreet and First Street S.


Reminder: Heat Required October 1-May 15

Did you know heat is required to be provided in all residential and nonresidential structures from October 1 through May 15? Per City Code, the temperature shall be not less than 68 degrees Fahrenheit; measured three feet from the floor and three feet from the outside wall, except when the temperature is below -12 degrees Fahrenheit and the heating system is operating at its full capacity.
