Shady Oak Beach Opens for Season June 7

Shady Oak Beach opens for the season on Friday, June 7. The beach is open June 7 through July 31, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., (10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on July 4), and August 1 through 18, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., weather dependent. Beach season passes are available for those wanting to enjoy unlimited entry into the beach at great rates. Passes can be purchased in-person at Minnetonka Recreation Services (temporarily located at 14350 Excelsior Boulevard), Shady Oak Beach (during beach operation hours), or over the phone by calling Recreation Services at 952-939-8203. Water Treatment Plant Open House is June 8

Hopkins Public Works invites the community to tour the water treatment plant at 1498 7th Street N ton Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come learn about where your tap water comes from and experience operating heavy equipment using a simulator. Hot dogs and chips will be provided. Be sure to visit the petting zoo while you’re there!


Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off is June 14-15

Drop-off your household hazardous waste and problem materials at the Hennepin County collection event on Friday, June 14, and Saturday, June 15, from 9 a.m to
4 p.m., at St. Louis Park Middle School (2025 Texas Avenue S. — Enter off 22nd Street W). A complete list of other event dates and locations, as well as items that are accepted is available here.


Art from the Attic is June 15

Looking for an affordable way to beautify your home? Come to Art from the Attic on Mainstreet outside the Hopkins Center for the Arts on Saturday, June 15, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and buy some wonderful pre-owned artwork sold by the Friends of Hopkins Center for the Arts. 100 percent of the proceeds will go to support art programs and activities for all ages at the Center. Looking for away to get rid of artwork you no longer display? Drop it off at the Art Center on Tuesday, June 4, from 4 to 7 p.m., or Saturdays, June 1 and 8, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to be resold at the event. Learn more about Art from the Attic here.
