Activity Center Collecting The Giving Tree Donations November 5-December 13

The Hopkins Activity Center is collecting donations for The Giving Tree Program November 5 through December 13. Seniors in the community, and families being served at ResourceWest and the ICA Food Shelf will benefit from your donations of new gift items including: 

  • Gifts for seniors: blankets, clothing (pajamas, robes, cardigan sweaters, slacks, shirts, blouses, socks), bedding, bath towel sets, Visa or grocery store gift cards
  • Gifts of warmth: new hats, mittens, gloves, scarves or coats for all ages
  • New, unwrapped toys, especially for kids ages 10-18
  • Toiletries
  • Nonperishable food items
  • Monetary donations 
Donations can be dropped off at the Activity Center and place under the Giving Tree located in the lounge. More information about the Activity Center is available here.

Cops N Kids Shopping Nominations Due November 16

Do you know a Hopkins resident between the ages of 12 and 14 who would benefit from police mentorship? The Hopkins Police Department is now accepting nominations for Cops N Kids Shopping coming up on Tuesday, December 11. Nominations can be completed online or by filling out a form in the police department lobby. All nominations are due by Friday, November 16. Learn more and fill out a nomination application here.


Brush and Yard Waste Drop-Off Site Closes November 24

The free yard waste/brush drop-off site (3100 Hopkins Crossroad) will be open Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (closed for Veterans Day) through Saturday, November 24, weather permitting. After November 24, the site will close for the season. Learn what's accepted at the drop-off site here.

The pilot Organics Recycling Drop-Off program will continue after the free yard waste/brush drop-off site closes for the season on November 24. Beginning Monday, November 26, labeled carts will be available in the northwest corner of the Public Works parking lot off 17th Avenue S. Hopkins refuse customers may drop-off their organics recycling at any time. More information about organics recycling is available here
