Bulk Item Drop-Off is April 27 and 28

The spring bulk item drop-off at Hopkins Public Works is today, April 27, from 3 to 7 p.m., and tomorrow, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For $20, City of Hopkins residential garbage customers can drop off one appliance and up to three cubic yards worth of trash (the equivalent of one pick-up truck load). Rescheduled: Free Yard Waste and Brush Pick-Up

Due to the extended winter weather, the free yard waste bag and brush pick-ups were rescheduled. They will now both be picked up on your regular garbage day the week of May 7th. You do not need to schedule these pick-ups. Learn more here.


Step To It Challenge Begins May 1

Get moving after this long Minnesota winter by participating in the 2018 Step To It Challenge. Over 20 communities will compete to see which one has the most active residents. Participants have a chance to win Twins Tickets and be honored by Hennepin County and the Minnesota Twins at a home game during the 2018 season. Learn more about the challenge and register to participate here


Defensive Driving Class at Activity Center is May 3

The Hopkins Activity Center is holding a four-hour defensive driving refresher course on Thursday, May 3, from 6 to 10 p.m., for drivers over 55 who must renew their coursework every three years to continue to qualify for the senior auto insurance discount. Completion of the eight-hour defensive driving course is a prerequisite for the refresher class.The cost to attend is $22. Lola Redd and The Risk Featured at Depot May 4

Stop by the Depot Coffee House Freight Room on Friday, May 4, to hear local band Lola Redd and The Risk, with special guests Delilah Daybreaks, Kill You Twice and Evergreen. Tickets are $5 with a student ID, $10 without. Doors open at 7 p.m. 


Rain Barrels and Compost Bins Available for Purchase

Every Spring, the Recycling Association of Minnesota partners with local governments, soil and watershed districts, nonprofits, and other organizations to provide rain barrels and compost bins at low cost to Minnesota residents. Residents who pre-order a rain barrel or compost bin online will be able to pick them up at St. Louis Park Public Works, 7305 Oxford St. on Saturday, May 5, from 8 a.m. to noon, and Monday, May 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. Learn more and pre-order online here
