Cops and Community BINGO is April 22

The Hopkins Police Department is hosting Cops and Community Bingo on Sunday, April 22, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the Hopkins Activity Center. For $20, play 10 games and help support the Hopkins Crime Prevention Fund and Youth Outreach. Cash only. Refreshments will be available for purchase.



May Day Music on Main is May 5

Mark your calendars for the second annual May Day Music on Main coming up Saturday, May 5, on Mainstreet outside the Hopkins Center for the Arts. The street celebration and fundraiser featuring live music, food trucks, a silent auction and more will begin at 3 p.m. The Cactus Blossoms will take the stage inside the Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Learn more about the event and purchase concert tickets here


Valley Park Clean-Up is May 6

Help keep Hopkins clean by joining the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District's Valley Park Clean Up on Sunday, March 6, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. All participants can be entered to win a free rain barrel. Learn more about the clean up and register to volunteer here


Public Works Weather-Related Updates

Due to snow, several Public Works services have been postponed:

Brush and Yard Waste Pick-Ups

One week of brush pickup, originally scheduled for April 16-19, has been postponed for a later date yet to be determined. The full two weeks of leaf and yard waste pickup, originally scheduled for April 23-May 3, has also been postponed to a later date. All new pickup dates will be posted on our website. 


Brush and Yard Waste Drop-Off Site and Organics Recycling

The brush and yard waste drop-off site will now open Saturday, May 5. The organics recycling pilot program will also begin May 5. More 


Arbor Day Tree Planting 
The Arbor Day tree planting event will now take place on Saturday, May 19, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Jen Kullgren at jen.kullgren@hennepin.us or 612-596-1175. 

Hydrant Flushing

Hopkins Public Works utility crews will now be flushing fire hydrants throughout the community April 23 through May 4 during daytime hours. Residents are cautioned against doing laundry - particularly whites - while crews are in the neighborhood. 

Hydrant Flushing Schedule:

  • April 23 to 27: All hydrants south of Excelsior Boulevard and west of Highway 169
  • April 30 to May 4: All hydrants east of Highway 169

If water is still discolored once crews leave, residents should run the cold water until it runs clear.
