Shady Oak Beach Opens for the Season June 10

Summer is nearly here, which means it is time to hit the beach! Shady Oak beach will be opening for the season Saturday, June 10. The beach is open June 10 through July 31, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., (10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on July 4), and August 1 through 20, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., weather dependent. Renew or purchase your 2023 Shady Oak Beach season pass to enjoy unlimited entry to the beach at great rates. You may purchase or renew online, or at the beach during business hours. Fire Department Staffing Study Virtual Engagement Sessions are June 12

Join the City of Hopkins and consultant firm Raftelis for a Fire Department Staffing Study virtual engagement session via Zoom on Monday, June 12, at noon or 5:30 p.m. During the session, Raftelis will provide an overview of the project and discuss the challenges the department/City is facing and explore various future models of fire service including transitioning to a full-time department or regionalization. Virtual participants will be asked to give feedback about what they want to see from the fire service. Sign-up to participate.


The Sunset Series Returns June 15

The Hopkins Center for the Arts, along with Mill City Sound, are excited to present the 2023 Sunset Series, which is set to begin Thursday, June 15, with Maygen and the Birdwatcher. Enjoy the free music series on Thursday evenings beginning at 7 p.m. in Downtown Park, 40 9th Avenue S. Bring a chair and your friends, and enjoy music ranging from local favorites to emerging new talent that will showcase all genres. View the full lineup on the Hopkins Center for the Arts website. 


Register Your National Night Out Neighborhood Gathering 

National Night Out is less than two months away on August 1, which means it's time to start thinking about your neighborhood's celebration. Register your National Night Out gathering online by July 30 or by contacting Anne Marie Buck at 952-548-6407. No time to organize and no party happening on your block? Attend the National Night Out Kick-Off Celebration at Alice Smith Elementary at 5 p.m. for family fun and giveaways for youth and adults.
