Deadline to Apply for Public Art Advisory Committee is March 10 

The City of Hopkins is re-establishing a Public Art Advisory Committee to provide guidance on public art within the City. If you are a practicing Hopkins artist or represent a creative business, please consider applying to sit on the Committee. The Committee meets as needed. Dates and times of the meetings will be established based on the schedule of the Committee members. For more information, please contact Kersten Elverum at 952-548-6340. The application deadline is March 10, 2023. Apply online. 


Buy-A-Brick Deadline is March 31

Leave a lasting impression in Hopkins Clock Tower Plaza and be a special part of Hopkins history with the Buy-A-Brick program. Individuals, families, groups and businesses can purchase bricks with names imprinted that will be placed in Clock Tower Plaza at the southwest corner of 9th Avenue and Mainstreet. Learn more on the City of Hopkins website or contact the Activity Center for more information. The deadline to order is March 31.


Save the Date: Garden Plot Registration Begins April 4

Registration for community garden plots begins at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, for Hopkins residents. Registration is on a first come, first served basis (limit two plots per household). Residents must provide proof of residency and register in-person at Hopkins City Hall, 1010 First Street S. Non-residents may register beginning Friday, April 7. Building Safer Communities Micro Grant Applications 
Due April 15 

The City of Hopkins seeks to provide funding opportunities for programs, communication, advocacy, and organizing led by community-based organizations and community members that promote community safety and connectivity through Building Safer Communities Micro Grants. The micro-grant program will focus on projects that fund, inspire, and assist with crime reduction efforts. The City will fund projects between $500 and $2,500. Property Tax Refunds

If you're a homeowner or renter, you may qualify for a property tax refund through the State of Minnesota. Visit the Department of Revenue property tax refund webpage for details and a full list of refund programs. Minnesota has two programs for homeowners: the Regular Property Tax Refund and the Special Property Tax Refund. You may be eligible for one or both depending on your income and the size of your property tax bill. The Regular Property Tax Refund is based on your household income and the amount of property tax you pay. The Special Property Tax Refund requires your net property tax to have increased by at least 12 percent and $100. It is not based on income. Renters may be eligible for the Renters may be eligible for the Renter's Property Tax Refund based on how much rent or property tax paid, your income and number of dependents.
