Today is the Deadline to Submit Name Suggestions for Park Valley Playground

The Hopkins City Council and Park Board are looking for suggestions to rename Park Valley Playground, located in South Hopkins, as part of the City’s Park System Master Plan. Add your suggestion and give feedback on the Park System Master Plan website by Friday, September 30. 


Hopkins Historical Society Fundraiser is October 1

The Hopkins Historical Society will host Historic Happy Hour, a fundraiser and awards ceremony to celebrate 50 years on Saturday, October 1, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Hopkins Activity Center. The Historic Happy Hour event will feature a silent auction of items from local businesses, an opportunity to visit the organizations newly refreshed museum space, and an awards ceremony. Appetizers and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be served. Tickets are $40 for an individual ticket or $75 a pair, available at the Hopkins Historical Society website.


Sunday Open Skates at the Pavilion Return October 2

Sunday Open Skates are back at the Pavilion beginning Sunday, October 2. Bring your whole family and skate from 1 to 2:30 pm. No sticks or pucks allowed. All Open Skates are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and students, and free for kids under 5. Learn more about ice activities at the Pavilion.


Active Aging Week is October 3-7

Celebrate Active Aging Week at the Hopkins Activity Center by stopping in to try a free class. Some sample classes that will be offered include options for education and movement with Positive Psychology: The Science of Happiness and Standing Shibashi: Movements from Tai Chi and Qigong. The week will round out with a Senior Health Fair and Flu Shot Clinic on Friday, October 7, from 10 a.m. to noon. Explore informational booths with vendor information on nutrition, finances, housing and many more resources. Enjoy a healthy snack and sample fitness challenges. No registration needed to attend this free health resource event. Explore free fitness classes and Health Fair information.


National Coffee with a Cop Day is October 5

Join officers from the Hopkins Police Department for coffee and conversation on Wednesday, October 5, from 9 to 11 a.m., at Dunn Bros Coffee, 4 Shady Oak Road. As part of National Coffee with a Cop day, the department invites you to ask questions, voice concerns, show your support and get to know the police officers in your city.



Hopkins Fire Department Open House is October 8

The Hopkins Fire Department will host its annual Open House at the Hopkins Fire Station, 101 17th Avenue S, on Saturday, October 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop by and enjoy fire truck and bucket rides, free hot dogs and popcorn, and lots of hands-on fun. 


Metro Transit To Make Changes to Route 615 in Hopkins

Effective October 15, Metro Transit will be making changes to Route 615 service in Hopkins. Route 615 weekday and Saturday service (there is no Sunday service) will be reduced from 60-minute service to 120-minute service. Depending on rider trip patterns, alternative service may be available via Routes 9, 17, 612 or 645. The route changes are meant to protect reliability of service amid a continued Metro Transit operator shortage.
