City Council Special Meeting is January 11

The Hopkins City Council will hold a special meeting Tuesday, January 11, at 6:30 p.m., to discuss the current COVID-19 situation. With COVID-19 case rates in Minnesota on the rise, the City Council is expected to discuss a possible citywide mask mandate. Regular work session items will also be included with the special meeting. A packet with the items will be posted on Monday afternoon. The meeting will be broadcast live on Cable Channel 16 and on the City website here.

Curbside Organics Recycling Update

Curbside organics recycling is here! The first week of organics collection will be the week of January 10. Collection will be weekly, the same day as garbage day. To help make this transition a fun learning experience, residents are invited to participate in an Organics Recycling Bingo Challenge, beginning January 10. Compete with friends and family to reduce waste and manage organics in ways that encourage behavior change. Winners will be entered into a drawing to win three boxes of BPI bags. Learn more about the Bingo challenge here.

The City will also be holding two sessions on managing organics in January. An online session will be held Monday, January 24, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., and will be recorded. Participation information will be posted on the organics recycling webpage. An in-person session will be held Wednesday, January 26, from 5 to 6 p.m., at the Hopkins Activity Center. Registration is required. Find more information about Hopkins’ new curbside organics recycling program and sign-up to participate here.
