Connections - A Weekly Update from the City of Hopkins

Alarm Registration and Renewals Due by December 31

Individuals and businesses are required to register their burglar and fire alarm systems.  This annual registration allows the police and fire departments to keep more up-to-date records on alarm holders and important keyholder information. The fee is $20 for fire alarm systems and $20 for police alarm systems (panic, burglary, duress, medical, holdup). New to Hopkins? Need to renew your alarm system registration? Fill out the online Alarm User Permit form. You may also download and print the permit application form (PDF) and return it with the proper fee to Hopkins City Hall, 1010 First Street S. Permits are required to be renewed annually before December 31. Find more information about alarm registration here.

Opening of Outdoor Ice Rinks Postponed

Due to warmer weather, the opening of outdoor ice skating rinks originally scheduled for December 18 has been postponed. As the weather continues to cool, crews will begin laying ice, which will need 7 to 12 days below freezing before it is ready for skating. Call the weather hotline at 952-939-8355 for updates. More information about outdoor ice rinks is available here.
