Bulk Item Drop-Off Event is Today, Tomorrow

The fall City of Hopkins bulk item drop-off event for City of Hopkins is today, September 24, from 3 to 7 p.m., and tomorrow, September 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. You must be a City of Hopkins residential garbage customer to participate in the event. For $20, plus taxes, you can drop off one appliance and up to three cubic yards worth of trash (the equivalent of one pick-up truck load). Additional appliances are $20, plus taxes, each. Mainstreet Day is September 25

Mainstreet Day, the annual arts and craft festival sponsored by JCI Hopkins, will be held Saturday, September 25, on Mainstreet in downtown Hopkins. The event is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature a variety of arts and craft vendors, food trucks, kids activities, a live magician and more. JCI Hopkins reinvests all proceeds from Mainstreet Day back into the Hopkins community to support programs and projects such as Cops 'n Kids shopping, Little Free Libraries, Rolling with the Bunny and high school scholarships. Community Chili Cook-Off is September 25

Who makes the best chili in town? The Cities of Hopkins and Minnetonka police, fire and recreation departments will go head-to-head in a Community Chili Cook-off to benefit the ICA Food Shelf on Saturday, September 25, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Faith Church in Minnetonka, 12007 Excelsior Boulevard. For $5, taste the chili of all five teams and cast a ballot for your favorite. The event will also feature music, games, police squad and fire truck displays, and more. Donations of non-perishable foo, cash or other ICA-need items are also requested. All proceeds will benefit the ICA food shelf. 



Fire Department Open House is October 9

The Hopkins Fire Department's annual Open House is back at the Hopkins Fire Station, 101 17th Avenue S, on Saturday, October 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop by and enjoy fire truck and bucket rides, free hot dogs and popcorn, and lots of hands-on fun. Watch live fire demonstrations, including an auto extrication and car fire, and learn valuable health and life safety tips. Learn more here.


New COVID Relief Grants Available for Businesses

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) is accepting applications until September 29 for its Main Street COVID Relief Grants program. Grant amounts range between $10,000 and $25,000 for qualifying businesses.
