Apply for Zoning Equity Update Committee

The City is seeking applicants to help advance our racial equity goals in the Zoning Ordinance Update. Zoning ordinances can be one of many tools cities use to advance racial equity. Members of the Zoning Update Equity Committee will begin working on an equity evaluation and recommendations starting in mid-September and will run concurrently to the existing zoning rewrite process. This group will likely meet 1-2 times each month through the rest of 2021. Interested residents who wish to apply should contact PeggySue Imihy by Friday, September 3, 2021.

Emerald Ash Borer Found in Hopkins

This year, the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) has been found in several Hopkins neighborhoods and surrounding communities. If you are concerned about saving an ash tree on your property, now is the time to act by contacting a tree service/arborist to see if the tree is a candidate for an EAB treatment. The City’s Forestry Division will also be doing inspections of trees in Hopkins for diseases (Dutch Elm, Oak Wilt and EAB) through September. If any tree on your property shows signs of disease, it will be marked with an orange ribbon and information will be left at your door. Call 952-548-6372 with questions. Find more information about tree disease control in Hopkins here.
