Juneteenth Jubilee Celebration is June 19 

Celebrate Juneteenth at the Hopkins Center for the Arts on June 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., where local entrepreneur and Hopkins School District teacher Jessica Winnie and her business, Minnesota Black Box, will hold an event honoring the holiday. Juneteenth commemorates the day news of freedom reached Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865, two and a half years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation proclamation abolishing slavery. The event is free and will celebrate the holiday through healing, building and supporting local Black-owned businesses. Register to attend here. 


The Freight Market is June 19

Join the Depot Youth Advisory Board for The Freight Market, an outdoor art fair for both youth and adult artists, on Saturday, June 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Depot Coffee House. Learn more about the event here.


Deadline for Landlords to Apply for Tenant Rental Assistance is June 20

Are you a landlord in Hopkins and have tenants who have been unable to make rent payments as a result of COVID-19? The Zero Balance Project offers landlords an opportunity to apply for rental assistance on behalf of their renters. The deadline to apply is June 20 or when funds run out, whichever happens first. Sunset Series' Humbird Concert is June 24

The Sunset Series continues Thursday, June 24, with experimental folk/Americana singer Humbird at 7 p.m. in Downtown Park. All Sunset Series concerts are free and open to the public. City Seeking Input on Proposed Rental Inspection Program Revisions

The City is seeking feedback on proposed revisions to the Rental Inspections Program. The main goals of the program revisions include:

  • Finding ways to improve efficiencies and equity 
  • Utilizing the rental program as a platform to build upon the City's current outreach efforts to meet citywide renter engagement and participation goals.

Community input is an important part of this revision process. Draft documents are available for public review on the City website.

Interested parties are encouraged to provide comments and feedback through a brief, five-question survey by Monday, June 28, here.
