Sunday Open Skates are back at the Pavilion beginning Sunday, October 4. Bring your whole family and skate from 1 to 2:30 pm. No sticks or pucks allowed. All Open Skates are $4 for adults, $3 for seniors and students, and free for kids under 5. Learn more about activities at the Pavilion here.

National Night Out is October 6

National Night Out 2020, rescheduled to Tuesday, October 6, will be unique this year. The Hopkins Police Department is not encouraging social gatherings, and will not be hosting a large in-person kick-off event or visiting any neighborhoods this year. Instead, the department is asking neighborhood coordinators to encourage individual families and neighbors to “do something good” for the community on October 6 and report back on social media with the hashtag #HopkinsUnited. This could be a park or neighborhood clean-up, volunteering to help a local non-profit or anything that supports the community. The police department is asking neighborhood coordinators to have individual families register their activities online to share what creative ideas they have for “doing good in the neighborhood”. The most creative effort will win a prize!

Chief Brent Johnson will also be joining families and neighbors via Facebook Live on October 6 at 6 p.m. with an important community message. More information about National Night Out in Hopkins is available here.

National Coffee with a Cop Day is October 7

National Coffee with a Cop Day, held this year on Wednesday, October 7, will have a new twist! While in-person gatherings are not possible, the Hopkins Police Department still wants to connect with the Hopkins community. The department is asking community members to submit their questions or concerns via an online form by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6. A handful will be selected to be answered on Facebook Live on October 7 at 10 a.m. All questions will be answered via email. Stay tuned to the Hopkins Police Facebook page on October 7, as there may be some fun surprises for community members from day and night shift patrol officers!

Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off is October 9-10

Drop-off your household hazardous waste and materials at the Hennepin County collection event in Minnetonka on October 9-10. Bring items to the Minnetonka Public Works parking lot (11522 Minnetonka Blvd.) between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. during the collection period. More information, including a list of items that are accepted, is available here.
