Deadline to Apply for Small Business Emergency Assistance Loan is Today at 3 p.m.

The City of Hopkins has established a Small Business Emergency Assistance Loan Program (SBEAL) to provide forgivable, no-interest loans of up to $5,000 to assist eligible small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of the program is to provide working capital to assist local small businesses to sustain operations, preserve employment and prevent business closure in order to promote long-term economic vitality in the Hopkins community. Bulk Item Drop-Off is September 24-26

Broken grill taking up space in the garage? Old microwave in the basement you need to toss? The fall bulk drop-off event for City of Hopkins residential garbage customers is Thursday, September 24, from 3 to 7 p.m., Friday, September 25, from 3 to 7 p.m., and Saturday, September 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For $20, plus taxes, you can drop off one appliance and up to three cubic yards worth of trash (the equivalent of one pick-up truck load). Additional appliances are $20, plus taxes, each. More information about the drop-off event is available here.


Downtown Hopkins Business District Customer Survey—We Want to Hear from You!

Hopkins has been selected to participate in Hennepin County’s Business District Recovery Program, which supports business districts in reopening and recovery from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hennepin County has hired Forecast Public Art to identify and implement strategies to create outdoor public space improvements that support social distancing and safety within the Downtown Hopkins business district. Forecast wants to hear from customers about your experiences and thoughts around visiting the downtown business district during the pandemic. You can help identify the needs in Downtown Hopkins by taking a brief survey, open through Wednesday, September 16, available here. 


Plan Ahead to Vote in the General Election

The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 3. If you are looking to minimize your direct contact with others and practice social distancing, you have the option to vote by mail. All Minnesota voters are eligible to vote by mail. You may apply for an absentee ballot online at mnvotes.org to vote by mail or contact City Hall for more information at 952-548-6302. Hopkins residents may vote in-person at City Hall starting on September 18.
