To the residents and community of Hopkins. As we watch the events unfold in the neighboring communities, we understand the fear, anxiety and concerns that each of you may have with these uncertain times. We acknowledge the need to feel safe in our homes and our community.
We want to ensure you that we are taking all of the necessary steps to prevent and deter crime in our community. Our police department and neighboring cities have a mutual aid agreement in place where we assist and supplement each other’s resources in the event we are needed. We have continued to evaluate our resources and we are allocating them based on predetermined planning and intelligence. We have put in place a team of officers and an emergency response team with our consortium cities that can protect this community.
We have been receiving timely intelligence briefs and at this time, we have no specific threats to our community. You may hear and read information on social media which is intended to cause fear and disruption. The majority of this information is simply not true.
We will continue to do everything to keep our community safe. While we have not officially set a curfew, we want to emphasize the importance of staying home this evening as the situation is turbulent and rapidly unfolding. For your safety, we strongly recommend that you stay home after 8 p.m.
