New citywide parking restrictions are to go into effect following the upcoming winter storm and expected snow emergency on Saturday, March 9.
During the snow emergency, there is no parking allowed on any City street. After the snow emergency, there will be no parking allowed on the odd side of any City residential street (addresses that end in 1, 3, 5, 7, 9) until further notice. The Downtown Central Business District is not included in these new parking restrictions. Following the snow emergency, Hopkins Police will be issuing $37 tickets to those who park on the odd address side of a residential street.
This new citywide parking restriction is due to already narrow residential streets from the heavy accumulation of snow, the upcoming storm and the need to ensure emergency vehicle access to all Hopkins residents. It will remain in effect until the Hopkins Police and Fire Departments deem that City residential streets are restored to safe widths for both on-street parking and emergency vehicles.
