The City of Hopkins and the Hopkins community are hosting a grand opening event to celebrate the Artery, the new bike, pedestrian and vehicle connection and community space on 8th Avenue S stretching from Excelsior Boulevard to Downtown Hopkins, on Saturday, June 2, from noon to 4 p.m.
The event will feature live music, public art projects, lawn games, artist talks with artists who created pieces for the Artery, bikes from the Three Rivers Park District to test the new bike lanes, a bike repair station and more. A ribbon cutting with birthday cake will take place at noon to help celebrate Hopkins’ 125th birthday.
Attendees are encouraged to utilize public transportation, carpool, bike or walk to the grand opening, as parking will be limited. A bike corral will be available on-site for those who wish to secure their bikes.
The Artery was made possible by financial support from the Metropolitan Council, Hennepin County and the Three Rivers Park District.
