The Metropolitan Council will close Blake Road at the intersection of Lake Street in Hopkins on Monday, April 9, as their contractor begins work to replace the old sanitary force main, install new storm sewer, and replace deep sewer and water mains beneath the roadway. Commuters who travel through the area are directed to follow the official detour via Excelsior Boulevard, Highway 169 and Highway 7.
After the Metropolitan Council completes their work in late May, the City of Hopkins will assume responsibility of the closure to begin construction on the City’s Blake Road Project. The closure at Blake Road and Lake Street is expected to last through mid-summer, weather permitting.
