Hopkins Fire Department Chief Dale Specken was recently named Fire Officer of the Year (for City’s with population in excess of 10,000) for the State of Minnesota by the Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Association (MSFCA). The recipient is nominated by his/her peers. Chief Specken was previously named Fire Officer of the Year in 2010. He is the first ever chief to receive the award twice.
Chief Specken is a lifetime resident of the City of Hopkins and has been a member of the Hopkins Fire Department for 30 years. He also serves as a fire marshal and emergency preparedness director for the City.
In addition, Chief Specken is the administrator for the State Chemical Assessment Team, sits on the MSFCA Board of Directors, and is a past president of the Hennepin County Fire Chief’s association and the Hopkins Raspberry Festival.
