The loan program is available to community groups, nonprofit organizations, businesses and residents who wish to collect and recycle materials generated at events held in Hopkins.
Hauling your recycling
Containers are available for the on-site collection of recycling and organics at events only. Collection and transport of materials is not included. See haulers and drop-off locations for options.
Picking-up and returning containers
Containers must be picked up and returned to Hopkins Public Works, 11100 Excelsior Boulevard.
A refundable deposit is required at the time of pickup. Your full deposit will be given back to you upon return of the containers, provided all containers and parts are returned clean.
A deposit is not required for City-sponsored events.
The refundable deposit varies depending on how many units you borrow:
- 1 to 5 containers: $100
- 6 to 15 containers: $200
- 16 to 20 containers: $300
There is also a $125 returnable deposit for the standing banners.
The City reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to keep all or a portion of the deposit if all event recycling containers and banners are not returned in the same condition in which they were received (clean and undamaged), and if all event recycling containers and banners are not returned on or before the date specified on the Event Recycling Container Request Form.
Containers must be returned clean. Use a damp cloth to wipe down the container lids after use. A cleaning fee will be withheld from your deposit if the containers are returned dirty. The cleaning fee can range from a minimum charge of $25 to up to half the deposit amount.
