Construction 2011Two significant construction projects will take place in and near Hopkins this construction season in addition to the ongoing maintenance of the City’s street and sidewalk system (which includes seal coating, crack sealing, and sidewalk/alley repairs).
The first is the 2011 Street and Utility Improvement Project, slated to begin in late May. The project will replace streets in the area south of Highway 7 and north of 2nd Street N between 12th and 17th Avenues N, as well as North Service Drive east of 12th Avenue. The streets involved are listed below:

Utility repairs and storm sewer upgrades will also take place in this area. Construction is anticipated to wrap up in October.
The second is a CenterPoint Energy project in the intersection of Hwy 7 and Blake Road in St. Louis Park. This work is necessary to ensure the safe delivery of natural gas and will last approximately five weeks. Highway 7 will remain open to through traffic, but cross traffic and some turning movements will be impacted. Detours will be posted and alternate routes are advised during construction. CenterPoint Energy has not set a specific start date, but advance warning will be placed prior to construction.
If you have any questions regarding construction projects this year, please contact City Engineer John Bradford at 952-548-6356 or jbradford@hopkinsmn.com.
