The City changed the Burglar and Fire Alarm Ordinance in January of 2004. If an individual fails to register an alarm, a $100 fine will be incurred in addition to any false alarm fines that may apply. Individuals and businesses will be charged $10 per year for their fire alarm system and $10 for their police (panic, burglary, duress, medical, holdup) alarm system. This annual registration will allow the police and fire to keep more accurate records on alarm holders and important keyholder information as it will be updated each year.

More information about the City's Alarm Ordinance can be found in the City Code - Section 930 or may contact at the Hopkins Police Department at 952-548-6407 or , Fire Marshal, at 952-548-6451.
