To accommodate the growing necessities of the community and the park and recreation program, in 1990 the City of Hopkins used money from the 1989 park bond referendum to build a community arena.
The Hopkins Pavilion is an arena used for a multitude of activities including ice-skating, figure skating, broomball, soccer, lacrosse, inline skating, rugby, baseball, softball, concerts, company picnics and other community and private events.
During the summer, organizations or individuals may rent the dry floor space for large group picnics, inline skating, birthday parties and company functions. During the spring, the Pavilion turf is available for indoor soccer, lacrosse, rugby, baseball and softball practices and birthday parties. During the fall and winter months, the Pavilion is available for ice rental and open ice skating opportunities.
As a result of a partnership between the City of Hopkins and the Hopkins School District, the Pavilion also has rooms available for rental year-round to the community for meetings, activities, parties, and other events. The rooms can accommodate up to 100 people.
