Shady Oak Park is located in Minnetonka, owned by the City of Hopkins, and is operated by Recreation Services.
In 1998 the two Cities completed a 1.68 million beach renovation project. Amenities at Shady Oak Beach include two sand play areas, water play area, sand volleyball court, concession stand, and restroom/changing areas.

August 4 - August 24
10:00 am - 8:00 pm
Swimming in the lake will end a half hour before sunset. Daily times will be posted at the beach.
Please note hours of operations on these days:
June 21: 11 am–9 pm
June 27: 10 am–6 pm
July 4: 10 am–7 pm
Daily Admission Rates
$5 (ages 2 and under are free)
$3 Twilight (after 6 pm)
All persons not included on a season pass will need to pay a daily admission to use Shady Oak Beach.
Season Passes
Season passes may be purchased from Recreation Services:
- By phone with a credit card (Visa or Master Card accepted) 952-939-8203
- At Minnetonka City Hall, 14600 Minnetonka Boulevard, Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
- By mail by sending your name, spouses name, address, School District, children's names and birth dates, and home phone number to Recreation Services, 14600 Minnetonka Boulevard, Minnetonka, MN 55345. Enclose the appropriate amount by check (payable to Recreation Services) and a self-addressed, 9" stamped envelope.
- Passes may be purchased at the beach beginning June 6.
