Press Release: Information Sought in Oct. 26 Hit and Run Accident Involving Pedestrian

Hopkins, MN – On Oct. 26 at 6 a.m., Hopkins Police and other emergency personnel responded to the intersection of Mainstreet and 17th Ave. on the report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Officers arrived on scene and found an adult female with serious injuries laying in the roadway. The victim was hospitalized at Hennepin County Medical Center and later died as a result of her injuries.

The victim in this case is Dolores Stafford, age 75, a long-time resident of Hopkins. The vehicle that struck Stafford, described as a dark-colored SUV, fled the scene. A good Samaritan came upon the victim and immediately called 911.

Based upon a preliminary investigation, Hopkins Police believe there were witnesses in the area at the time of the collision or just prior to the collision taking place, and are appealing to the public for help solving this case and bringing comfort to Stafford’s family.

Any witnesses who were in the area around this time or have information about this incident should contact the Hopkins Police Department at 952-258-5321 as soon as possible. Keep in mind, even the smallest piece of information can be useful in this investigation.

The Hopkins Police Crime Fund is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the resolution of this case.
