Watershed Dividing Line: If you live north of this line in Hopkins, you are in the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District. If you live south of this line in Hopkins, you are in the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District.
Hopkins has two creeks, Minnehaha Creek and Nine Mile Creek, which may experience higher than normal water levels during the spring snow melt.
Both the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District and the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District are providing flood predictions on their websites. Please follow the link for your watershed to stay informed.
If you are unsure of which watershed you live in, the map at right shows the dividing line that runs somewhat horizontally through the middle of Hopkins. If you live north of this line in Hopkins, you are in the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District. If you live south of this line in Hopkins, you are in the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District.
You can also enter your address in a property information search through Hennepin County. If your watershed is listed as 1, you live in the Nine Mile Creek watershed. If your watershed is 3, you live in the Minnehaha Creek watershed.
If you have additional questions you can contact the watersheds directly or City of Hopkins Engineer John Bradford.
