Independent Movie Chooses Hopkins For Filming Location

Hopkins is thrilled to be selected by the producers of an independent film, The Convincer, as both a filming location and a home base for production offices. The Convincer will star Greg Kinnear and Alan Arkin and is dark comedy about a salesman who encounters some unforeseen consequences while seeking out a rare violin.
Production staff moved into the Johnson Building at 815 1st St S in January and will be here for about 3 months.
Filming is expected to begin in the second week in February, and may include Hopkins locations on Mainstreet and in the Hobby Acres neighborhood. As many as 40 production employees will be in Hopkins during filming, and City staff has supplied them with our Shopping and Dining Guide to ensure as many businesses as possible benefit from their presence.
At this point, the filmmakers are not planning any street closures or other requests that would require a permit from the City. Production staff has assured the City that scenes filmed on location in Hopkins will be done in a way that minimizes inconveniences to the public.
