Excelsior Crossings

Northeast corner of Hwy 169 and Excelsior Boulevard

The goal of this project was to redevelop the vacant SUPERVALU property into an office development with an emphasis on:

  • Job creation
  • Structured parking to maximize green space
  • Traffic oriented primarily to Excelsior Boulevard

Opus Northwest purchased the SUPERVALU North Annex property in August 2006 and developed a master plan for the site, which will include approximately 740,000 square feet of office space. Groundbreaking was on October 24, 2006.

The latest

2008 saw the first wave of Cargill employees moving into the Excelsior Crossings campus. On October 30, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the completion of the first building. Construction on the second and third buildings has occurred on an accelerated schedule, with anticipated completion dates of summer 2009 and winter 2010, respectively. When fully occupied, 3,300 Cargill employees will be working in Hopkins.

Recognition

The project has already won several awards, including the 2008 award for the best build-to-suit office space of more than 100,000 sq ft, from the MN Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties.
