What is Hop-A-Ride?
Hop-A-Ride is an advance-reservation, shared-ride door-to-door transportation service for anyone who needs transportation within the Hopkins City limits. There are six additional destinations outside the City limits.

- Shady Oak Beach
- ICA Food Shelf
- Knollwood area
- Park Nicollet Medical Center (St. Louis Park)
When does Hop-A-Ride operate?
Hop-A-Ride operates Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Friday's from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Reservations must be made by 4:00 pm the day BEFORE the requested day of service. To place a reservation, call 952-935-8003. For a ride on Monday, reservations must be placed on the previous Saturday.
Who provides this service?
The City of Hopkins has contracted with Alternative Choice Transportation Inc. to provide the Hop-A-Ride Service. Alternative Choice Transportation Inc. provides the vehicles and the drivers.
How much does Hop-A-Ride cost?
The 2006 tickets prices are the following:
- Regular Income = $55.00/book of ten
- Low Income = $20.00/book of ten
- Knollwood = $50.00/book of ten
- Park Nicollet Medical Center = $50.00/book of ten
How do I buy tickets?
- Tickets are available at Hopkins City Hall, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
- Tickets may be ordered by mail from Hopkins City Hall by sending a check with a self-addressed, stamped envelope to:
