The City encourages homeowners to have their house numbers visible from the street. This can easily be accomplished by the homeowner. House numbers should be at least 4 inches high and a contrasting color to the color of your house.
Visible house numbers are an invaluable aid in providing services to your home. City emergency personnel and garbage collection, recycling, and utility crews rely on house numbers that can be seen from the street or alley to correctly service your property.
Occasionally individuals go door-to-door offering to place house numbers on the curb or front steps. "Operation House ID," or other firms, have no connection to the City of Hopkins. City ordinances actually prohibit anyone from placing numbers on City curbs.
For more information on the City's regulation of house numbers, see Ordinance 415.
