Trees are a vital part of the infrastructure in Hopkins and provide environmental and economical benefits. A community that recognizes these benefits and provides needed care for its trees are recognized by the National Arbor Day Foundation by being named a Tree City USA.
Hopkins has been named a Tree City USA 27 years since the inception of the program in 1976. Hopkins has met the four standards to become a Tree City USA by having a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, a comprehensive community forestry program, and an Arbor Day observance.
