You're Invited to 2007 State of the City Presentation

The Hopkins’ City Council and the Hopkins Business and Civic Association invite you to join them for the Hopkins’ State of the City presentation. This is your chance to find out more about what happened in Hopkins in 2006 and what’s in store for 2007.

This year’s event will be held on Tuesday, February 20, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. Food will be provided.

Home Remodeling Fair Will Offer Expert Advice

A free Home Remodeling Fair featuring nearly 100 contractor exhibits, 15 seminars, and an “Ask the Pro” booth will be held on Sunday, February 25 from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm at the Eisenhower Community Center at 1001 Highway 7 in Hopkins (one mile west of the intersections of Highways 7 and 169).

This year’s fair features a tremendous line-up of seminars and mini-demonstrations for the do-it-yourselfer. There will be an Idea Center packed full of a variety of professionals to provide free, no obligation advice. The “Ask the Pro” area will have architects, landscape architects, and interior designers. A representative from the Center for Energy and Environment will be on hand to answer your questions about lowering energy costs, as well as a representative from Community Action Partnership for Suburban Hennepin County to provide information about foreclosure prevention, reverse mortgage counseling, energy assistance programs, homeownership services, and financial counseling.

Life's A Dance At The Hopkins Activity Center

Citizen's Academy!

There is still time to sign up for the 2007 Citizens Academy! This free, five-week, interactive course is offered by the City to business members and residents of the community who are interested in learning more about the operations, facilities, and services of the City.
Classes are scheduled to begin March 1 and will be held every Thursday from 6:30 to 9 pm, with a completion celebration scheduled for April 3. Each class will be held at a different location within the City and will offer participants a behind-the-scenes look into its operations. The sessions are designed to be interactive as well as a fun and informative.

Mixed Municipal Solid Waste Deposit Disclosure

Pursuant to Minnesota Statue 115A.9302, which requires that a person who collects mixed municipal solid waste for transportation to a waste facility shall disclose to each waste generator from whom waste is collected the name, location, type of facility, and the number of the permit issued by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, or its counterpart in another state, for the processing or disposal facility or facilities at which the waste will be deposited. The City of Hopkins (hauler), hereby discloses that the mixed municipal solid waste collected from January 1–December 31, 2007 will be delivered to the following facilities during that time period. If an additional facility becomes either a primary facility or an alternative facility during this time period, the City of Hopkins will provide you with updated information within 30 days.

Recycle Old Phone Books

Residents participating in the City’s curbside recycling program may recycle old phone books by placing them in their green and yellow recycling cart.

Residents without curbside recycling may drop off phone books at the Hopkins/Minnetonka Recycling Center located at 11522 Minnetonka Blvd., Minnetonka. This is a free drop off site and is open seven days a week.
