A regular meeting of the Hopkins Zoning and Planning Commission was held on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Hopkins City Hall.
Present were Commission Members Tom Jenny, Kyle Skiermont, Patrick Beddor, Bob Hatlestad, Molly Cummings, and Kathy Newcomb. Linda Flynn was absent.
Also present was staff member Nancy Anderson.
Mr. Hatlestad called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
Mr. Skiermont moved and Mr. Beddor seconded the motion to approve the minutes of the January 26, 2010, regular meeting. The motion was approved unanimously.
Ms. Anderson reviewed the proposed amendment to the sign ordinance to allow electronic signs to change every eight seconds.
Mike Cronin, representing Holiday Companies, appeared before the Commission. Mr. Cronin stated that the electronic signs were coming down in price, and Holiday is moving to have all of its stores with electronic signs. Mr. Cronin went through the proposed ordinance.
The public hearing was opened at 7:20 p.m. No one appeared at the public hearing. Mr. Jenny moved and Mr. Hatlestad seconded a motion to close the public hearing at 7:21p.m. The motion was approved unanimously.
The Commission asked staff to work with Mr. Cronin to provide additional information to the Commission at the March meeting.
Mr. Hatlestad moved and Mr. Skiermont seconded a motion to continue this item to the March meeting.
Ms. Anderson reviewed the changes made since last month and changes to be made before next month.
Mr. Jenny moved and Ms. Newcomb seconded a motion to adjourn the meeting. The motion was approved unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
