A regular meeting of the Hopkins Zoning and Planning Commission was held on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Hopkins City Hall.
Present were Commission Members Kathy Newcomb, Tom Jenny, Kate Reilly, and Bob Hatlestad. Kyle Skiermont, Patrick Beddor, and Linda Flynn were absent.
Also present were staff members Nancy Anderson, Kersten Elverum, and Tara Beard.
Ms. Newcomb called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
Mr. Hatlestad moved and Ms. Reilly seconded the motion to approve the minutes of the February 24, 2009, regular meeting. The motion was approved unanimously.
Ms. Anderson reviewed the proposed parking lot. Alex Ugorets, the applicant, appeared before the Commission. Mr. Ugorets stated that he wants to divide the building into smaller spaces. The public hearing was opened at 6:45 p.m. Pat Case of 1715 Preston Lane appeared before the Commission. Mr. Case was concerned about traffic on Powell Road.
Mr. Hatlestad moved and Ms. Reilly seconded a motion to close the public hearing. The public hearing was closed at 6:55 p.m. The motion was approved unanimously.
Ms. Reilly moved and Mr. Jenny seconded a motion to adopt Resolution RZ09-1, recommending approval for construction of a parking lot at 7900 Excelsior Boulevard. The motion was approved unanimously.
Tara Beard introduced Tom Dobbs of Hay Dobbs, the consultant hired to do the Blake Road Corridor Small Area Plan. Mr. Dobbs updated the Commission on the Blake Road Corridor Small Area Plan Draft.
Tom Dobbs also updated the Commission on the Southwest Light Rail Transit Station Master Planning.
Mr. Hatlestad moved and Ms. Reilly seconded a motion to adjourn the meeting. The motion was approved unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
