Park Board Minutes

August 28, 2017

A regular meeting of the Hopkins Park Board was held on October 23, 2017


Caroline Rinker, Park Board Chair, called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm


Present were Park Board members: Emma Figgins, Caroline Rinker and Laura Santiago. Absent were members Kyle Kaczmarek and Mohamed Warsame. Also present was Steve Stadler, PW Director/Park Board City staff liaison, and Jeff Feulner, WSB & Assoc.


Laura Santiago made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Emma Figgins. The motion passed with a 3-0 vote.


Park Board action items and updates:

  • Burnes Park Improvement Project:
    • Under construction, will be completed in spring 2018
  • 2018 Hopkins Pavilion Upgrade/Central Park Warming House:
    • Under design, will be advertised in December, awarded in January 2018, with construction completion by mid-Sept. 2018
  • Elmo Park, Park Valley Playground, Central Park Pickleball Courts:
    • Seeking more neighborhood feedback for the Park Valley Playground project
    • New play equipment will be ordered in November with installation in spring/summer 2018
    • Pickleball court project is under design for construction in Central Park to replace the sand volleyball courts next year.

Central Park Planning
Jeff Feulner, WSB presented a revised preliminary master plan. (The attached WSB memorandum documents the Park Board comments regarding the revised concept plan and is included as a supplement to these minutes)

Park fund working capital report:
A current report was provided showing the 2017 expenditures to-date, projected future revenues and expenditures and the associated year end working capital balances.

The next regular Park Board Meeting is 6:30 pm on Monday, November 27.


Emma Figgins moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Laura Santiago. The motion passed 3-0. The meeting adjourned at 7:41 p.m.
