    Lively discussion each meeting on something of interest to the beginner as well as the expert computer person.
  • Digital Camera Lab

    Get the most out of your digital camera. Learn how to edit your photos. Instructor: Art
  • Open Computer Lab
    Members free; Others $3/hour
    Personal tutoring at your level. Bring your computer questions, word processing, database, scanning, or explore the internet & email. Instructor: Mark
  • Photo Scanning
    Members $5 per CD; Others $8 per CD
    Quickly scan your shoeboxes of treasured photos to CD or DVD using our Kodak Picture Saver Scanning System to capture and digitally archive your photos. The scanner accepts multiple print sizes from wallet to 8x10. Once your entire batch of photos is saved, you can then take them home on a CD/DVD (approximately 200 photos per disk) or copied onto a flash drive. Staff is here to assist you through the process.   • TECH U—Getting to know your device

    Get to know your cell phone, tablet, computer or how to navigate social media. Volunteer Derek will be there to help you understand how to use your device.

  • Backpack Project
    The Hopkins Activity Center is broadening our service to the community to include Haiti. We can help by sewing a simple drawstring backpack for school children in Haiti. Pattern available.
  • Helping Hands
    Every stitch makes a difference! Join the group for a charity knit or crochet-along. 4-ply yarn donations needed.
  • Open Artists Studio
    Work on individual projects (paint, draw, crafts, etc.)
  • Preemie Blanket Bee
    Make comforting quilts for babies in our local hospital.
  • Primitive Rug Hooking
    Members free; Others $3
    Enjoy social time while rug hooking.
  • Scrapbooking Club, Evening
    Members free; Others $3
    Get your photos out of unsafe albums and into scrapbooks. The Cricut machine is available for use—a fun way to cut shapes and letters. Scrapbook leader: Trudy.
  • Walker Bag Project
    Sew a simple walker bag for our local hospital. Kits available.

  • Community Ballroom Dances
    Enjoy ballroom dances in the spring and fall. Co-sponsored by Hopkins Community Education, Minnetonka Community Education, Minnetonka Senior Services, and Hopkins Activity Center. Call 952-401-6800 or visit the Hopkins Community Education website for more information. Dances held at Hopkins Eisenhower Community Center.
  • Dancing For Fun
    Members $5/week; Others $8/week
    Learn basic round dances, have fun dancing and enjoy the fellowship of others. A dance partner is needed. Instructors: Ken & Barb LaBau.
  • Intermediate Line Dance Lessons
    Frequent Card holders $5/wk; Others $8/wk
    Get up and dance to your favorite line dance song! Prerequisite: beginning line dance lessons.
  • Jazzberries

    Volunteer senior performance group with a touch of tap and jazz.
  • Tap Dance Lessons
    Members $70; Others $74 for 8 classes

Educational Opportunities

  • Connect to Learning Videoconferences
    Connect to some remarkable people and programs during a LIVE INTERACTIVE videoconference. Varied monthly educational topics. Call for programming and registration. Some videoconference talks to date have been with Denali National Park, Minnesota Historical Society, Hallmark Museum, Country Music Hall of Fame, and the National Archives.  
  • Defensive Driving Class
    Defensive Driving courses for people 55-years old+, taught by Bud Emerson from the MN Safety Council. Course includes lecture, films, and discussion. After participants complete the course, they are entitled to a 10%, 3-year discount on their auto insurance. Advance registration required by calling 952-939-1333 or emailing .
    • 4-Hour Refresher Class (prerequisite: 8-hour class)
      Members $20; Others $22 General Public
    • 8-Hour Introductory Class: This 8-hour class qualifies for the senior auto insurance discount.

  • Know Before You Throw Antiquing
    Members free; Others $3
    Call to schedule your antique appraisal and discover information about your special treasure. Call for dates.


  • Chair Yoga Class
    Members $4/class; Others $5/class*
    Wednesdays, 9 a.m.
    Jessica leads the class in a gentle form of yoga and is practiced sitting in a chair or the chair is used for support and balance.
  • Fitness Equipment
    Members free; Others $3
    A treadmill, elliptical machine, recumbent bikes and weights are available for use, with a TV for viewing. Mondays—Thursdays, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Fitness Focus
    Members $4/class; Others $5/class*
    Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9 a.m.
    A varied exercise program that focuses on stretching, flexibility, balance, low impact aerobics and strength training exercises. Instructor: Ben Walker.
  • Nancy's Fit & Fun Aerobic Walk
    Members $4/class; Others $5/class*
    Wednesdays, 1:45 p.m.
    Join this indoor multi-muscle walking class that is basic, boosts your metabolism and burns a lot of calories. It is a 45 minute workout/walk and is done to fun, upbeat music.
  • Soft Aerobics
    Members free; Others $3
    Mondays, 9 a.m. A one-hour fitness class formatted for seniors.
  • Qigong: An Integration of Physical Postures, Breathing Techniques and Focused Intentions
    Members free; Others $3
    Wednesdays, 7 p.m.
    De-stress, relax and recharge with Qigong, a gentle exercise and meditative practice that is easy to learn. The goal is to provide a technique for people to help themselves and others in the healing of the mind, body and spirit. Participants sit or stand during the movements and meditation. Call for information or to register.

    Tuesdays, 10:15 a.m.
    Incorporates yoga poses designed for older adults to focus on improving flexibility, balance, strength, posture and breathing. Bring a mat or towel. Instructor: Jessica.

* Try your first class free! Fitness Fees are deposited into your account and can be used at Fitness Focus, Yoga, or Nancy's Fit & Fun Aerobic Walk classes. This gives you flexibility on when you attend class.

Hopkins Activity Center is a contracted facility with American Health Fitness (Silver & Fit) and Healthway’s Fitness to offer fitness opportunities for eligible health plan members. Contact the office for more information.

    Participants receive a foot assessment, foot soak, trimming of toenails and maintenance of corns, calluses and ingrown nails. Provided by Happy Feet Foot Care, Inc. Call for appointment.
  • T.O.P.S. (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly)

    A doctor directed diet group that is non-commercial and non-profit.

    Enjoy a free cup of coffee and treats sponsored by local senior residence facilities on a rotating weekly basis.

    For caregivers and family members of those with dementia or memory loss. Co-sponsored by Open Circle Adult Day Center and Hopkins Activity Center.

paddle and ballIndoor Pickleball - Age 50+

Players age 50+ can drop in to play this exciting paddle game on the Hopkins Activity Center's two indoor courts. Players rotate in and out of games. Bring your Pickleball racquet, though some equipment is available. No experience necessary and pickleball is easy to learn! Beginners welcome!
